@ERAUWLax Tripped Up by No. 25 Saint Anselm

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team put up a good fight against a nationally-ranked opponent on Tuesday, but the Blue and Gold ended up on the losing end, falling to No. 25 Saint Anselm, 18-11. The loss dropped ERAU's record to 3-2, while the Hawks went to 2-0 with the win.

Mya Watson led the Eagles with four goals and three assists for a season-high seven points, while Ericka Kimble and McKenzie Jackson each added two goals. Jackson led the team with five draw controls and Elizabeth Ninesling collected a team-high four ground balls. Mary Catherine Kreider (2-2) made 10 saves on 28 shots faced.

It took nearly six minutes for either team to find the back of the net, with Saint Anselm scoring at the 24:03 mark to open the scoring. It took just 30 seconds for Embry-Riddle to answer with a goal from Zariah Durham to tie it at one. The Hawks netted the next two goals before Watson scored her first of the night to make it 3-2 at the 16:52 mark. After another SAC goal, the Blue and Gold got the next two, with Kimble scoring from a free position shot and Jackson finding the net to tie it up at four with just over twelve minutes to play in the first half. Saint Anselm scored the next two goals, but once again, ERAU rallied back, with Kimble scoring at the 3:09 mark and Paige Jones netting a goal just 23 seconds later to tie the game at six. The Hawks came up with a late goal, scoring with only four ticks left on the clock, giving SAC a 7-6 lead at the break.

The second half saw Saint Anselm rattle off six straight goals in the first 12 minutes of the period, increasing its lead to 13-6. Watson scored at the 17:52 to stem the tide, and that goal proved to spark a 4-0 run that featured two more goals from Watson, trimming the deficit to 13-10. The Hawks answered back, scoring five of the final six tallies of the game, earning the 18-11 victory.

The Eagles will continue their six-game homestand on Friday when they host Lander at 5 p.m.
